NEW FOR 2014:
- New special edition models: Knightsbridge, Hyde Park
- Final year of production
The most unusual and practical of the Mini hatchback variants has come to the end of the road. After this year, the quirky little station wagon will go on hiatus before an all-new model emerges for 2016.
But before the Clubman bows out, Mini has put together two special edition versions – the Cooper Knightsbrigde and the Cooper Hyde Park, which join the Soho and Bond Street editions. Other than that, the Clubman is virtually unchanged.
The Clubman is available in Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works trim levels. All use a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The Cooper’s four-cylinder is naturally aspirated and develops 121 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. The Cooper S features a turbocharged version of this engine and makes 181 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque (192 lb-ft on overboost), while the John Cooper Works makes 208 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque (207 lb-ft on over boost). Regardless of which motor you pick, the Mini Clubman is a hoot to drive with meaty steering, flat cornering, and thrilling acceleration on the turbo'd models.
Features on the Cooper include chrome door handles, body colour mirror caps, roof spoiler, chrome grille, black side air inlets, chrome split door handles (rear door), metal-look door sill finishers with model-dependent lettering, artificial leather gearshift/parking brake, chrome interior door handles, leatherette upholstery, single chrome exhaust outlet, six-way manually adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel with cruise control, 50/50 split/fold rear seat, sports leather steering wheel, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, passenger side Clubdoor, trip computer, one-touch up-and-down driver's window, power windows, rear splitdoor, push-button start, auxiliary input, and Bluetooth.
The Knightsbridge Edition adds 16-inch four-hole circular alloy wheels, black roof, glass sunroof, heated front seats front and rear fog lights, and can be had in either Pepper White or Chili Red. The standard six-spoke alloy wheels, automatic climate control and onboard computer are deleted.
The Hyde Park adds roof, mirror caps, and hood stripes in Cool Champagne, Pepper White interior trim, and white turn signals. It can be had with either the Cooper or Cooper S.
Cooper S adds a honeycomb grille, dual chrome exhaust outlets, sport button, turbocharged engine, bi-xenon headlights, white third brake light, white indicator lenses, sport front seats, and stainless steel pedals and footrest. When equipped with the automatic transmission, shift paddles are included.
John Cooper Works adds JCW aero kit, electronic differential locking control, sport suspension, chrome side air inlets, anthracite headliner, dynamic traction control, 17-inch alloy wheels, JCW steering wheel, piano black interior, and central exhaust outlet.
